Yay for backyard weddings!!
Part of me loves doing things away from the norm… The number of smaller, backyard, at home weddings I’ve had the opportunity to photograph this season has been heartwarming. I have so enjoyed being welcomed into my couple’s homes and seeing their everyday life… well… sort of their every day life!
Marty and Leigh were good friends for a while before they started dating, and unbeknownst to Leigh, Marty and her Dad were actually good friends! So when Leigh came to her Dad to get his approval before they started dating, he willingly gave it and the two have been inseparable since.
Marty and Leigh have an absolutely beautiful home… and if you know these two, you know that Marty couldn’t have picked a better backdrop to propose. They were sitting out on their deck (in their favorite spot), and Marty pulled the box out of his hoodie and popped the question. Leigh said that the proposal fit “them” perfectly… and they couldn’t have picked any other place to have their closest friends and family join them for the most important day of their lives.
I love Leigh’s dress… the blue was from her mother’s wedding dress, and the cross stitching was done by her grandmother. Heirloom’s like this just melt my heart, and speaks to the level of importance family holds in my own heart…
